Welcome to another week! Let’s start here…

“In a study conducted by the BBC World Service, four in five respondents said they believe web access is a fundamental right. 90% described the Internet as “a great place to learn,” and 78% considered it a source of “greater freedom.” A bit more than half said that the Internet should not be regulated by government at all.

27,000 people form 26 countries were surveyed, and their responses varied by location. While a large number of people from the United States, Mexico, Nigeria, and South Korea said the Internet shouldn’t be regulated, many residents of China, Pakistan and Turkey disagreed; only 16% of Chinese, 12% of Pakistani and 13% of Turkish respondents said the Internet shouldn’t be regulated.” Source: Is the Internet a Fundamental Right? My kids sure think it is! Moving on, what’s happening in the Twittersphere?

“The Twittersphere is in love with Justin Bieber. Once again the young pop star tops our top 10 Twitter trends chart, even in spite of the devastating Chile earthquake that also peaked this week as a topic of Twitter conversations.

The fresh data, which comes courtesy of the folks at What The Trend, highlights the most popular topics on Twitter (Twitter). Hashtag memes and games have been omitted from the chart given the topical nature of the list.” Source: Top 10 Twitter Trends This Week [CHART]

Here’s another practical use for Google Reader…

“Like many of you, for the past few years I’ve been using Google Reader to subscribe to blogs and news feeds. Instead of having to go out and scan each and every one of my favorite blogs for new and interesting content, I can read; share; tag; favorite and organize my favorite posts directly in Google Reader. It saves me a valuable abundance of time.

Google Reader is not only one of the best RSS feed aggregators out there, but it can also be used as a powerful system to archive rss feed data you may want to access in the future. Anything that has an RSS feed can be backed up and archived with Google Reader for access long after the feed is gone. Here are just a few ideas on the types of data you can archive this way.” Source: 3 Ways To Use Google Reader As An Online Archive

Finally? Some cool Chrome tools to start your week…

“Since you last saw an edition of Chrome Corner, we’ve done some re-thinking about what it should be. Instead of trying to force together a weekly update when there’s sometimes just not enough news to justify doing it, the Corner will now crop up whenever the crew at Download Squad has a nice haul of of Chrome-y goodness to post about.

Today’s topic: syncing across multiple computers!” Source: Chrome Corner: extensions to keep Google Chrome in sync on multiple computers

Rock on!
