A new client, Chala of Coachtactics in Toronto wrote me this morning asking my opinion on a post she found in Linkedin…
As a general practice our team will try and use video email before calling a potential prospect. We have found our conversion rates improve and a relationship as been built before you even make the call. You can also get so much into a few minutes with video email over sending a traditional email so please give it a try and feel free to provide feedback…
I could write back and benefit her alone or share it with Chala and the world here. You can see which approach I favor…
Personally, I think this is a brilliant approach! Here’s how I go about it…
- Create the video using your favorite tool…
- Upload the video to YouTube
- Embed the YouTube video in a blog post or page
- Send the permalink for the post or page to your client using Shareaholic…
The first three steps look something like this:
Using this approach, the prospective client would need to come to your blog to view the video. After being blown away by your actually video content, the prospective client might view a couple of pages or posts and subscribe to your newsletter or your rss feed or connect with you via social media. Get it? Got it!
I like the idea of prospects being able to get to know you before a call. But, you say, what if they don’t like what they see? Good! They were probably not going to become a client anyway — especially if you were transparent in your video. The key, however, is not producing the video — it’s in effectively positioning the content on your blog so that the prospect has to come to your homebase where hopefully, they’ll continue the engagement…
