I’m grateful for my social media certification class at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College for a couple of different reasons:
- I meet a lot of cool people [some of them become cool clients]
- It forces me to stay on top of trends in all the social media categories like the new timeline view for Facebook pages
- The dirty little secret? The teacher learns the most if he/she is doing their job right!
Having discussed social media, Google and Google+ and business blogging, it’s time to move on into social networking. Tomorrow we tackle Facebook…
I think the thing that’s most difficult for newcomers to understand is that Facebook is more than a social network — in a lot of ways it’s an operating system as complex as Windows or MacOS. I’m actually glad I have to go back and review it three times a year — each time a big chunk of my curriculum is out of date and needs to be refreshed! It’s exciting and daunting at the same time.
