What happened in Google+ last week? Two big things; a study was released that showed users are spending an average of 3 minutes per month on Google+ and Google snagged Digg founder Kevin Rose to help bolster the sagging social network…
Me? I’m still struggling to find a use for Google+ [although I did find a way to post directly to my Google+ business pages from the Google+ extension in Chrome]. I find sharing in Google+ to be slow and clunky — not fast and flexible like the Facebook bookmarklet or those from LinkedIn and Twitter. Google needs to put more work into their sharing tools if they want people to use this network!
Regarding Kevin Rose, this is a very interesting move. Rose is [was?] a very cool guy — loved listening to him on the Diggnation podcasts years ago — but Digg failed and it is difficult to measure what impact he will bring to Google. As far as I know, this is the first time they have ever hired a rockstar from outside — could be a sign of how truly desperate they are to drive Google+ members and facetime…
