Some people like to make things overly complicated. Me? Sometimes I like to grossly oversimplify things and take them back to the basics. Example? ‘Thought leadership’ marketing. To my mind, if you want to be a thought leader there are only two things you need to do well: Deepen your expertise through a continuous learning [...]

I talk frequently about curation and what a valuable tool it is. I teach my students and clients that the time to curate content like this is when you find the paragraphs you WISH you’d written and you can add value to the curated content in the process. Jeff Goins is one of the most [...]

Ann Handley who literally wrote the book on content marketing tweeted this article by Haydn Shaughnessy on how to do thought leadership right… Like content strategy, thought leadership is a relatively new option for companies that want to improve their visibility and connections online in ways that prompt sales leads to come to you. He starts… I asked 12 people who I consider to be leading global commentators on thought leadership as well as a couple who have produced some amazing thought leadership programs in-house over the years to comment on four critical thought leadership [...]

I’m curating this quote for another post but the simple elegance of Seth Godin’s thoughts deserves a spotlight all it’s own… Leadership (even idea leadership) scares many people, because it requires you to own your words, to do work that matters. The alternative is to be a junk dealer. The game theory pushes us into [...]

My own thought leadership position is on the topic of tactics and tools for thought leadership. Occasionally, I come across great thoughts on the strategy or rationale behind curation for ‘thought leadership’ marketing and this perspective from Robin Good is one of the best I’ve read in a long time… Today content curation is “sold“, [...]
