Ahh, Florida. It is known for its warmth, sunshine, and attractions. That makes it the perfect escape. Especially if you are struggling through a case of the winter blues. Dreaming of a fun and fabulous getaway? Of sunshine on your shoulders? Stop dreaming. Start planning your very own trip to Florida. With so much to see and do…there will never be a dull moment. Thank goodness for that! Here are some of the most important things to check off of your to-do list before your vacation.
Come Up With Your Itinerary. There is an awful lot to do in Florida. This is a great thing. However it also means that you need to have a clear plan of action. Otherwise you will spend more time deciding what to do than actually doing it. So take the time now. Find out which attractions there are (Disney World, Universal Studios, SeaWorld, Everglade Tours, and so on). Then determine which ones you want to see. Choose a few. Just be sure that you are realistic about the time you have for your vacation – and the time each attraction will take. Know what you want to see? Buy your Florida park tickets before you go. This will save you time and money.

Take Care Of All The Essentials. Taking a vacation can be pretty exciting. But it requires a certain amount of planning and preparation. Before you go into full-blown vacation mode, take care of the essentials. Need to cross the border? Fly to Florida? Make sure your passport is up to date. Plan on driving from place to place? Have a car rental booked beforehand. Want to sleep somewhere cozy and conveniently located? Book your hotel room now. Why wait? Take care of these essentials now. It will save you an awful lot of stress down the road. Plus, it means you can sit back, relax, and enjoy the trip of a lifetime.
Prepare Yourself For Warm Weather. Florida is hot. Cooler during certain months and scorching at other times of the year. While the temperatures do vary, it tends to be pretty darn hot. Make sure you are prepared. Bring along light coloured clothing, loose fitting pieces, hats, sunscreen, sunglasses, sandals, re-usable water bottles, and a bathing suit. (Or two!) Packing sun safe items is a must. It will prepare you for warm weather and those harsh UV rays. That means a more enjoyable trip from start to finish.

Let Your Credit Card Company Know. There is nothing worse than going to buy a souvenir and having your credit card declined. It happens. All the time. Make sure it does not affect your Florida vacation! Phone your credit card company before you leave. Let them know the date you are leaving…where you will be staying…and when you will return. It is the easiest way to avoid those oh-so-embarrassing moments. Another tip? Head to the bank pre-getaway. It is a good idea to have some US cash on you. (Even if you plan to charge the majority of your purchases.) From the cab ride to your hotel to tipping wait staff…. it will come in handy.
